Tesco has appointed Alain Guilpain as the new Category Manager for wine.
Alain will start in the role on 23rd July and replaces Claire Lorains, who recently left the category following her promotion to Category Director for Tesco healthcare.
Returning to the UK following his most recent position as Trading Director for Non-Food Grocery at Tesco in the Czech and Slovak Republics, Alain worked previously as Category Manager in Produce as well as in roles across the Tesco Fresh and Packaged Food categories.
After graduating with a degree in Marketing & Economics as well as two years of National Service in the French Army, Guilpain started working for Tesco in 1995 as a stock control manager before moving on to the role of European Supply Chain Manager. Following this, Alain worked as a Buying Manager in the Dairy Category before being promoted to the positions of Category Manager for Dairy, and then Produce.
BWS Category Director Dan Jago commented “Alain’s broad commercial experience will bring valued skills to the wine team. We look forward to welcoming him and working together to continue to bring excitement, quality and value for money to our customers in the wine aisle.”
