Carrefour to Invest in Argentina

By Laura Elliott.

France-based supermarket giant Carrefour has announced that it is now ready to invest in its latest Argentinean acquisition.  Last month, the retailer acquired 129 EKI stores in Argentina, based around Buenos Aires and the surrounding areas.

As reported by Planet Retail, the chain now has plans to invest a staggering €53 million into Argentina during the course of this year.

The French retailer will use the capital to update existing stores and also to convert the newly-acquired EKI-Discount supermarket chain. 33 of these new outlets have already been re-opened according to the local newspaper Lanación.

Reportedly, Carrefour has further plans to open four new supermarkets and nine new hypermarkets in the country by the end of this year as well.
