Tesco Reshuffles Clothing Business
By Laura Elliott.
For the second time in 12 months Tesco’s chief executive, Philip Clarke, has remodelled the chain’s clothing business. Jill Easterbrook, the Tesco employee in charge of clothing, is switching roles to lead a group of businesses comprised of Tesco’s Irish operations, Tesco Mobile, the One Stop convenience store chain and the Nutri-Centre nutritional business.
The man responsible for the Florence and Fred brand across central Europe, Jason Tarry, will now be placed in charge of the whole of Tesco’s clothing operation. Ms. Easterbrook was made head of clothing at Tesco in September last year following the decision by Richard Jones to take up a senior role at Dunnes.
A spokesperson for Tesco said that “These moves result from good talent planning at Tesco. As one of our most experienced Directors, Jill will bring focus and leadership to these important business units. Jason Tarry will lead clothing across UK and Ireland in addition to his existing responsibilities for Central Europe and the F&F brand internationally, allowing us to further leverage the skill and scale of the group.”
18 months ago, Tesco’s chief executive said that the retailer’s clothing range needed t be more “on trend”.
