Aldi kickstarts christmas with big wins at supermeat & fish awards 2017

Discount supermarket Aldi won the top prize at the SuperMeat & Fish Awards 2017, being named Meat & Fish Retailer of the Year for the first time in the award’s 20-year history, beating the likes of Marks & Spencer and Morrisons on product quality, and confirming its unique position as a supermarket that offers only the best and freshest meat and seafood for their customers.

Aldi also scooped a total of eight trophies for its upcoming Christmas ranges including Specially Selected Salmon Wellington and Specially Selected Shoulder of Lamb with Redcurrant, Cranberry and Port Glaze, making it the destination for consumers to get high-quality festive food at amazing prices this year.

But the real spotlight belonged to their Specially Selected Exquisite Rumburgh Farm Whole Turkey – an authentic pedigree bronze turkey which has been slowly matured in wild pastures – beating birds from Marks & Spencer which retailed at £19.50 in 2016 – that’s 26% more expensive than Aldi’s.[i]

And it wasn’t just Aldi’s Christmas range that was praised. The supermarket’s 100% British meats which are available all year round also swept up three awards for delicious products like Specially Selected Black Treacle & Stout Ham.

Julie Ashfield, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to win the prestigious accolade of Meat & Fish Retailer of the Year. This recognises our commitment to providing exceptional quality products at unbeatable prices. We’re delighted to attain this recognition for our Christmas range which we cannot wait to share with our customers.”
