Auchan focus on renovation; will invest EUR1bn in hypermarkets

achunFrench international retail group and Multinational Corporation Auchan plans to invest EUR1bn in its French hypermarkets. The company chairman Vianney Mulliez told media persons that the new reserves will be used to renovate its French hypermarkets starting this year. The project is expected to accomplish by the end of 2017.

Mr. Mulliez made the remark at the opening of Auchan’s most recent hypermarket, the new era store at Meaux, north-east of Paris. The investment, more than half more prominent than previously visualized, will basically go towards revamping existing stores. He also said the new era hypermarket will have multichannel focus.

The 12,000 sq. m hypermarket at Meaux has opened under the standard Auchan.fr, to show the company’s multichannel focus. On-rack terminals permit clients to request items that are inaccessible in-store, there is complimentary wireless Internet and signage, generally, is digital. Lower racking gives unhindered sightlines and gondola closures are devoted to items clients have a tendency to overlook, as opposed to promotions.
