Department of International Trade Promotion announces THAIFEX 2015
Event to drive Thailand’s potential as the world’s food industry hub
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is set to bring together business entrepreneurs across the food manufacturing and service industries in THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2015. The event, which is aiming for a 10% year-on-year increase in the number of visiting major domestic and international buyers, will underline Thailand’s status as the hub of one of the biggest and most complete food expos in Asia and the world, further cementing the country’s central stature in the global food industry.
“THAIFEX – World of Food Asia is an annual international expo that is entering its 11th year,” organized by Department of International Trade Promotion, The Thai Chamber of Commerce and KoelnMesse said Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, DITP Director-General. “In 2014, we accomplished all of our objectives for THAIFEX with 1,463 companies exhibiting their products and services in 3,453 booths, generating THB 7,352.1 million in trades. The event welcomed a total of 103,283 visitors from 35 countries and territories worldwide – including Hong Kong, the United States, China, Malaysia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Mexico, and South Korea. These statistics serve to highlight the significant role that the food industry plays in Thailand’s economic growth – especially as global demand for food products continues to rise amidst the expansion of major markets in ASEAN and beyond.”
For the 2015 edition of THAIFEX – World of Food Asia, the DITP is aiming to achieve a 10% increase in the number of exhibitors compared to the previous year. It is projected that the event will feature 1,600 companies exhibiting in 3,900 booths, attracting a total of approximately 112,000 visitors from across Asia, the US, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, Japan, and other regions while expected to generate more than THB 8 billion baht during 5 days events.
“We are confident that THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2015 will be warmly received by manufacturers, importers, exporters, and distributors throughout the industry as well as the general public due to its status as the central expo for Asia’s food industry. Given the global renown of Thai food, strong signs of economic growth, and impending integration into the ASEAN Economic Community, THAIFEX 2015 represents a significant opportunity for Thai and international businesses alike to engage in trade negotiations that build upon and contribute toward the sustainable long-term growth of Thailand’s food industry.”
