Renowned food and drink retailer launches its celebrated awards programme

Entries open today, Monday 8th December, for the third year of the illustrious Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards.

One of the biggest media events of the year, the awards celebrate the very best in writing and broadcasting about food and drink. There are 13 categories with 12 awards judged by a respected panel of experts, and one, the Food & Drink TV Personality of the Year, judged by the Great British public. Last year’s winners included the Hairy Bikers, Marina O’Loughlin for work in the Guardian Weekend Magazine, Rose Prince for work in The Telegraph Magazine, while Claudia Roden received the special Judges’ Choice award.

Every year Fortnum’s assembles leading figures from the world of food and drink to critique all work submitted – which must have been published or broadcast during 2014 in the UK – and 2015 is no exception.  The stellar judging panel is led by Ewan Venters, chief executive of Fortnum’s, and includes:

*Tim Atkin MW – Wine writer and winner of the Online Drink Writer of the Year, Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards 2014 (@TimAtkin)

*Bee Wilson – Food writer, historian and columnist for The Sunday Telegraph’s Stella Magazine

Commenting on the launch of the 2015 awards, Venters said: “In just two years, the Awards have already established themselves as one of the highlights of the food and drink calendar, and I’m confident in saying 2015 is going to be bigger and better than ever. I believe we’re not only blessed with the best food and drink in the world in this country, but the best people writing, broadcasting and blogging about it too. The judges and I are eagerly awaiting this year’s entries”.

Submission details can be found at www.fortnumandmasonawards.com.  Entries close on 31 January 2015.  The Awards shortlist will be announced on 13 April 2015 with the awards spectacular in May 2015 at Fortnum & Mason’s flagship store in Piccadilly.  Winners in each category will receive an elegant trophy and a bottle of Fortnum & Mason vintage champagne.
