Wal-Mart gives $20,000 to Red Cross in America

Friday, 03 July 2009 10:11 News

To support disaster response and capacity building projects in America, the Wal-Mart Foundation has granted the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter $20,000 (£13,700). This is one of 128 Red Cross Chapters, or outlets, in America.

Some of the grant has already been used to purchase a supply trailer and to buy 100 cots for disaster response. The grant is also being used to train disaster volunteers as well as to extend services in the Cape May County.

The Red Cross outlet is extremely grateful to have received the grant, and admires the supermarket chain for the role it plays in enabling effective disaster response.
