Finland to Donate 400,000 Euros to the Red Cross

Finland are to grant 400,000 Euros in humanitarian aid to Chile, through the Finnish Red Cross. The Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Paavo Vayrynen to the decision to support the victims of the Chile earthquake, after the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) launched

a 4.7 million Euro appeal.The aid will be targeted to cover health services, emergency accommodation and the distribution of aid kits.

The earthquake hit of 27th February has so far caused the death of over 700 people, and caused vast damage. More soldiers and police have been called in to the stricken areas to stop looting from supermarkets and shops, caused by the lack of food supplies.
