Coles to become only Australian supermarket to stock HGP-free beef

Coles is sourcing hormone growth promotant (HGP) free beef from its Australian cattle producers to achieve our goal of providing customers with the best quality fresh food.
Coles will be the first national food retailer to sell only HGP-free beef.
Coles general manager of meat, Allister Watson, said Coles worked cooperatively with its beef suppliers over the last 18 months to build a dedicated hormone-free supply chain.

Tesco Director takes place on ITV Board

ITV have announced that Lucy Neville-Rolfe CMG, the current Corporate and Legal Affairs Director at Tesco, is to take up a position on the ITV Board as a non-executive director.

Lucy is Director (Corporate and Legal Affairs) of Tesco Plc and has a long track record of achievement in business and Government. Prior to joining Tesco in 1997, she held a number of senior positions in Government departments including the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit in 10 Downing Street , BIS, the Cabinet Office and DEFRA .

Private label set to dominate indian retail

A recent research study “Private Label & Indian Consumer Insight 2010” by TechSci Research has revealed the transformation of organized retail industry shelf space in India due to introduction of private label by organized retailers in recent years. These in house developed brands have helped the retailers to garner high margins as compare to branded products across multiple product offering. As per study, the margins from private labels range between 10%-15% in case of FMCG products and as high as 40%-60% in case of apparels sales.

M&S to sell solar panels

Marks & Spencer  is launching a range of Solar PV and Solar Thermal water heating solutions to help customers cut their carbon emissions and reduce their energy bills.

M&S is one of the first retailers to offer solar energy packages that enable customers to take advantage of Feed-in-Tariffs. Through the M&S Energy partnership with SSE these tariffs are available to new and existing M&S Energy customers. They allow Solar PV customers to earn money and a tax free return for every unit of electricity they generate over the next 25 years. Under the scheme every unit produced will earn customers 41.3p* from their energy supplier, with an additional 3p* offered for every unused unit that is exported back to the national grid.
