Kay Bee Exports, India’s leading integrated fruit and vegetable exporter, have begun exporting high quality pomegranates to customers around the globe. It sent off it's first container this week and is aiming to ship large volumes over the coming four months.

Mr. Kaushal Khakhar, CEO of Kay Bee Exports, is sure that this season’s campaign will be a success as in the previous years. He has projected 30% higher volumes compared with last year. These volumes would have been higher, but there were unseasonal rains in late October and November. These rains took a heavy toll on production, causing a big drop of more than 40% in availability for the months of December and January. However, production volumes in the months of February and March look to be promising. India is gearing up for supplies during period of February to April, when it is a dominant supplier of pomegranates in the world.

According to Mr. Khakhar, Indian pomegranates are one of the best tasting varieties. The ratio of weight of the arils to the weight of the fruit is much higher compared to other varieties, and this gives more edible fruit and value for the consumers.
